After a disastrous early debate with Donald Trump , Joe Biden needed some clear air from the NATO summit.  Yet he again tripped over names mixing up Putin and Zelenskeyy , and although he quickly corrected it, at the press conference he said Vice President Trump when he meant Kamala Harris in answer to a question.

This was hot on the heels of high profile people like George Clooney, Michael Douglas and other stars recommending that Biden should step aside as the Democratic candidate.

How he could turn this around is difficult to see.
