Labor Promises Preschools $1.7 Billion
Opposition Leader Bill Shorten has promised 1.7 billion dollars in subsidies to pre-schools. If he is elected Prime Minister in the next election, families will see a significant cut in fees. The aim is to change the image of preschool, focusing more on education and development during the early years of a child’s life, as well as encouraging enrolment. Today we spoke to early childhood Professor Sue Walker, from Queensland’s University of Technology, to discuss what these cuts will mean for the future of Australian education.
