Bill Shorten Reveals National Plastic Bag Ban

Ahead of the Federal Budget and the full release of their climate change policy, Opposition Leader Bill Shorten has announced that Labor will spend $290 million on recycling initiatives, including a plan to ban single-use plastic bags and microbeads by 2021. It is a move that the Opposition Government believes will protect vulnerable wildlife and reduce the amount of waste generated. With many in support of the idea of a nationwide ban, how valuable is this scheme towards fighting plastic pollution?
