Did you know that oxytocin helps a woman to give birth, but andrenalin hinders that process? Adrenalin can be created by a reaction to your surroundings, and for a labouring women in hospital, those surrounding can be stressful.
Maralyn Foureur has been heavily involved in the research related to birth unit deisgn, and developing a set of principles for an ideally designed birth space.
Maralyn is a Professor of Midwifery at the University of Technology Sydney. She speaks to Ellen Leabeater.
