Bob Dylan Birthday Marathon 2023 – Listen Back!

On Saturday the 27th of May 2023, 2SER hosted the 39th annual Bob Dylan Birthday Marathon – a huge celebration of the life of Bob over 8 hours, featuring some of Australia’s foremost Bob experts and drawing in Bobheads from across the world listening online. Producer and host Bill Kitson offered us the following comments on the program this year.

“Bruce was pleased to have been able to put to air an interview with the late Robert Adamson, famous Australian poet and huge Bobfan. We had requests from listeners in Shillong India and Hereford UK. We played a tribute to the late great Jerry Lee Lewis – on the night of Jerry Lee’s death in October last year Bob sang one of his hits “I Can’t Seem To Say Goodbye” in concert and told the audience: ‘Jerry Lee will live forever – we all know that’. Our feature album was Fragments: The Bootleg Series Vol 17 which is a 5 CD set celebrating and reinterpreting Bob’s highly acclaimed 1997 album Time Out Of Mind.

Bruce and Amanda worked the panel in their usual heroic manner and the superhuman crew took the calls from all over the country. We started the requests earlier this year and we got to play them all except a couple so rare even we didn’t have a copy with us. We are looking forward to the 40th broadcast next year and we are proud of our long and happy partnership with 2SER.”
