Bob Dylan Birthday Marathon Saturday 25th May 2019 8pm – 4am
A Sydney institution since it first went to air in 1985, the annual 2SER Bob Dylan Birthday Marathon returns this month. Featuring all the classics and new releases, as well as news and views of the world of the Nobel Prize winning song writer and performer.
In early April Dylan released He‘s Funny Like That, his contribution to a six-song EP called Universal Love on which Dylan and five other artists do transgender jobs on popular songs to make them appropriate for LGBTQ folk. Bit of a curveball after last years release of the 8CD + 1DVD box-set Trouble No More covering his much debated Jesus period of 1979 to 1981 but that’s our Bob and we love him for it.
For the last 33 years 2SER’s Bob Dylan Birthday Marathon has been celebrating the Nobel and Pulitzer-prize winning artist’s birthday with news, reviews, interviews, the Dylan Quiz – and all the Bobsongs that fit. We will be hearing snippets from Bob‘s Nobel Prize for Literature, hearing Bob do It Takes A Lot To Laugh with the Wynton Marsalis Septet, remembering the 1978 tour of Sydney with Dylanologist Zac Dadic, playing fabulous selections from Trouble No More including one of those recently written and arguably slightly odd sermons, and hearing flesh & blood Bobfans telling us about their favourite Bobsongs.
