Book Club: The Coconut Children

2SER’s Alex James and Andrew Pople reunite for another brilliant episode of Book Club on the Breakfast Show with Vivian Pham’s ‘The Coconut Children’.

Not only is this coming-of-age fiction Pham’s debut novel, but the author is only nineteen and has dedicated her story to her parents who arrived in Australia as refugees.

‘The Coconut Children’ takes us to Cabramatta in the late 1990’s and follows childhood friends Sonny and Vince who are reunited and coming to terms with reaching adulthood.

If you haven’t picked up a book during isolation, now is the time as it similarly explores notions of isolation and community.

Catch Andrew Pople on Final Draft every Wednesday evening at 6:30pm and each Saturday morning at 10am.
