Boomerang Festival

Australia is home to the oldest living culture in the world. It’s something that isn’t celebrated very much by the mainstream population, which is a shame. The boomerang festival is an event which showcases the local nation of the Bund-jalung people, sitting alongside the Bluesfest festival in the picturesque Byron Bay.

It encompasses dance, weaving, carving, talks & ideas, workshops, music & authentic cultural exchanges between Aboriginal & non-Aboriginal people. But it needs your help – there is currently a crowdfunding campaign looking to raise funds to ensure the festival goes ahead and is the best it can be.

Widja-bul woman Rhoda Roberts, who is the festival director, who has also been Head of Indigenous Programming at the Opera House joined Mitch to discuss the festival and why you should support it.
