Before the election to decide the Liberal parties’ and Australia’s leader, Liberal MP Julia Banks announced she would be stepping down as Liberal Member for Chisholm. Banks issued a statement on her Twitter account, whilst calling out bullying in parliament as a contributing factor. Reactions were mixed, including comments from broadcaster Alan Jones saying, ‘Bullied female MP’s should toughen up’.
