The BYO Coffee Cup Movement helping to reduce our waste
Over 3 Billion coffee cups each year are thrown into landfill. Unfortunately, these cups are rarely recycled and are rarely composted due to inadequate composting facilities. Because of the lack of options these cups will sit in landfill for around 50 years before they finally decompose. Fortunately, the volunteers at Responsible Cafes are trying to change this, by sparking a reuse revolution in Sydney. There BYO coffee cup initiative has recently been granted government funding and now has over 2000 responsible cafes. So how well have we as a nation responded to these issues and what can we as individuals be doing to help create a more sustainable nation. The Daily was joined by Justin Bonsey the Founder of the Responsible Action Network.
