Prioritising Patient Voices in End of Life Sector
A new review into the end of life sector has called for patient and carer voices to be prioritised on a systemic level.
Experts say while personal collaboration between patients and medical professionals is comprehensive, this relationship does not extend to patients when dealing with health services.
With palliative care being an emotional and personal care experience for patients and their loved ones, a wave of benefits is expected to come from greater patient input, that is valued and incorporated into the sector.
Breakfast spoke with Dr Brett Scholz, lead author of the review published in Palliative Medicine, and a Research Fellow at the ANU College of Health and Medicine.
