Can Ants predict rain?

With Wednesday’s disastrous rainstorms dropping bucket loads of water all over Sydney. It took a mammoth effort from emergency services and ordinary people to keep the City moving. But humans are not the only ones who must respond to significant rainfall events.


Ants, with their collective thinking and ingenuity, respond to flooding and rainfall in very unique ways. To discuss how they deal with significant rain, Senior Lecturer in Etymology at the University of Sydney, Tanya Latty joined Drive’s Victor Petrovic.
