Why can’t we investigate Horse Racing?

The glamour of the Melbourne Cup is over, and while none of the horses died in this years race, thousands more have in order to get the winner across the line. Horse racing is ingrained in the Australian culture, but why can we investigate the greyhound industry but not the horse industry? And why do we call for the end of bull fighting in spain, but love to have a flutter on the races?
