Cashing In On Energy Efficient Homes

We all want our homes to be as energy efficient as possible, but for many it can be hard to justify the upfront expense of an energy upgrade. New research shows that when selling, more energy efficient homes are fetching a premium – leaving a big opportunity for homeowners capitalise. Unlike many countries however, Australia has no consistent energy rating system – which makes it hard for the value of an energy efficient home to be realised at the point of sale. The Thursday Daily’s Willy Russo spoke with Dan Daley from the University of Wollongong’s Sustainable Buildings Research Centre to find out more.
