Censoring Erotica
A Chinese author of erotic fiction was recently sentenced to more than 10 years in jail for writing and selling a novel online that featured gay sex scenes.
Whilst you wouldn’t receive a jail sentence for penning such a book in Australia, our censorship laws have not always been the most liberal either.
The Daily’s host Julia Carr-Catzela spoke about this with Professor Nicole Moore, research fellow in Literary Studies at UNSW Canberra, who specialises in Australian literature, censorship and women’s writing.
