Change The Date or Add a Date

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has stirred the pot again in the Australia Day debate by suggesting January 25th should be an official day to celebrate indigenous Australia. Although there are already existing indigenous ceremonies that take place on the 25th, Morrison  would like to see it as a tradition taken up around the country although no formal steps have been taken to make that happen. So is this an indication of progress in race relations between indigenous and non-indigenous Australia or just a campaign booster for the coming election?  Dominic O’Sullivan, Associate Professor of Political Science and Senior Research Fellow at Charles Sturt University, joined Alex on The Daily to flesh out the issue.
