Changes in Australian Export of Waste

Following the waste crisis in 2018 that led to the federal governments passing the legislation of the Recycling and Waste Reduction Act 2020, changes are to be expected next month as several bans regarding waste sortation takes place this year.

Although export of waste will continue in Australia, rather than shipping off unprocessed waste, The Recycling and Waste Reduction Act 2020 focus on setting up a system where waste is regulated and sorted prior exportation overseas.

This begs the question, was it about time that we take responsibility for our waste and steer towards a national recycling system?

This morning we were joined by Dr Rebecca Taylor, Assistant Professor in the School of Economics at the University of Sydney.
