The Western Australian Government has proposed a decommissioning project for their offshore mining rigs however, upon further investigation the project fails to mention how materials will be recycled and toxic waste will be disposed of.
Although a plan to decommission the non-renewable fossil fuel mining rigs can be seen as a step in the right direction, more progress needs to be made to ensure it is environmentally friendly and beneficial in the long-term.
