Child Abuse and Protection Strategies

According to the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, it has been reported that the rates of child abuse are increasing every year, with one child being abused every 15 minutes, and one killed every fortnight. Of the reported cases, emotional abuse, neglect, physical abuse, and sexual abuse were the most common forms of abuse against a child. Why is child abuse happening and what is being done to protect these vulnerable children?
