In some sports, certain injuries are expected, but there has been an increase in the number of professional level injuries  – ones we would see at the olympics or world games – occurring in teenagers playing on the weekend. There are concerns that as children’s sports become more and more professional, that these injuries willl rise. Particularly when coaches or clubs may not have the skills needed to prevent such injuries which can cause problems throughout life, like a torn ACL

To discuss this further is Professor Caroline Finch, Director at The Australian Collaboration for Research into Injury in Sport and its Prevention from Federation University.
