Why some Chinese-Australians are voting ‘No’
Chinese Australians constitute of around 5.5% of the Australian population. The significant size of this community contributes to an important voting bloc in the upcoming referendum on a Voice to Parliament for indigenous Australians.
However, there is an overwhelming support on the ‘No’ campaign on Chinese social media platforms such as WeChat, RED, and Douyin. While the reasons behind the circumstance are complicated, the quality of Chinese journalism on social media platforms are in question.
