Experts were forecasting that the citizenship saga was set to  control parliamentary discussion following the return in 2018. Just last week Labour MP David Feeney resigned over his dual citizenship, prompting another by-election contest in his Melbourne seat of Batman. This had only increased the shadow of doubt over many other elected officials.
