On this episode of More Civil Societies, Eva Cox unpacks the term “democracy”. According to Eva, in a society that uses a majority electoral systems to make decisions, it’s important to consider what follows if the majority comes to the wrong conclusion, and how to protect minority groups. Eva says it’s important for people to recognise that majorities aren’t always right. However, to create a more democratic government she believes that we need to stop scrutinizing the voting system and instead focus on what the government and political parties are saying.
