More Civil Societies with Eva Cox: Distrust and Democracy
It was recently revealed that less than a quarter of federal parliament members refused to sign an ethics questionnaire developed by former Queensland judge Tony Fitzgerald. The aim of the questionnaire was to tackle corruption by quizzing MPs on their attitudes towards accountability, integrity, deception and spending taxpayer money.
In this episode of More Civil Societies, Eva Cox continues the conversation with a look into the trust-distrust relationship between Australians and politicians. According to Eva, if politicians started making “sensible” decisions about the issues that matter to Australians, this would be build trust rather than distrust.
