Over the weekend, the Federal Labor Party announced that, if elected, it would crack down on people using trusts to avoid paying income tax by introducing a 30 per cent tax rate on family trust distributions, in order to make the tax system more fairer.

“Tax is primarily about income distribution and it’s where we create equality or inequality,” she said.
