The clearing of Sydney’s Homeless Camp – does it violate human rights?
Last Wednesday, the New South Wales state government passed legislation which gave police power to clear and dismantle the Martin Place homeless camp in Sydney’s CBD. This left many homeless people with no place to go. Some have asked that while it’s a challenging issue is the criminalisation of homelessness is a method that will fix the issue or create a bigger problem?
Myles houlbrook-Walk spoke to Dr. Cristy Clark, a lecturer in law at Southern Cross University to discuss the issue and and whether it’s a violation of human rights.
