Climate Change Induced Extreme Weather Is Damaging 45% of Australia’s Coastal Habitat
While those in Europe have been bearing the hottest temperatures ever experienced, extreme weather caused by climate change has been affecting natural systems all over the world with a recent report finding large-scale impacts of a series of extreme climate events on coastal marine habitats around Australia.
The report published in the Frontiers in Marine Science found that extreme weather events will only increase in frequency, with consequences for ecosystems and important heritage sites.
2SER The Daily talked to one of the authors of the report, Dr. Eva Plaganyi-Lloyd, Principle Research Scientist at the CSIRO about what is happening to our coastal habitats.
