Coal Mines Get 40 More Years
Environment Minister Tanya Plibersek has approved the extension of 3 coal mines in the Hunter and Narrabri regions of NSW.
The approvals mean the mines can remain operational for up to 40 more years.
The decision that has been condemned by climate activists, though Labor says the approvals mean mining communities will be able to retain up to 1800 jobs and stimulate local economies.
