Is The Community Development Programme Doing More Harm Than Good?
In July 2015 a community development program was introduced among Indigenous communities yet a new report has revealed more than 46,100 financial penalties were applied to the 34,000 people in the community development program since its introduction. So is the federal government’s remote employment scheme doing more harm than good ? Is this due to a lack of consideration of how it would work? The Guardian Australia’s Darwin correspondent Helen Davidson joined us on the show to discuss these findings with us.
