Concerns For Safety of Women Testifying at Family Law Inquiry
The Greens yesterday passed a motion in the Senate, calling for the latest inquiry into family law to be halted over concerns there is a lack of protection for women testifying. Advocates say the inquiry could inflame tensions and escalate the possibility of violence towards women and their children if they speak out under the current rules. The inquiry has been under fire after deputy chair Pauline Hanson aired her beliefs that women were fabricating claims of domestic violence to gain custody.
