New report calls for national reform to First Nations education system

Content warning: the following contains mention of First Nations people that are now deceased.

Over 50 First Nations educators from across Australia gathered in Ross River last month for the 5th annual First Nations education conference – Utyerre Apanpe, echoing support for educational change.

The event coincided with the launch of the 100-page policy document, the MK Turner report. Authored by a collective of Indigenous Educators, the report paves the case for First Nations-led and designed education reform in Australia, empowering both Indigenous language and culture.
