Electric vehicles. Ban on coal. Gas to go. 1.5 degrees Celsius. These are just a handful of the many issues that were discussed by 197 participating nations at the COP26 summit. Despite two weeks of back-and-forth and an agreed plan, it is obvious that all did not go to plan. COP26 needed to reshape the 2030 and 2050 goals to be more strict, as the current targets will be met with little effort. However, the changes needed in order to achieve this did not end up on the final agreement, which could spell climate catastrophe in the long-term future.
