Councils Take Back The Power In Share Bike Regulation
Have you seen any bike sharing bikes in your local tree or park recently? Since the first deluge of bikes onto our streets in 2017. The industry has been allowed to operate however it chooses. With no legal or regulatory framework stopping it from dropping bikes all over Sydney.
But the State Government has now stepped up, with new laws empowering councils to fine bike share operators for not taking care of their stock.
We spoke with The Mayor of Waverley Council John Wakefield, to find out what Local Council’s think of their new powers.
