COVID Safety Settings – Winter 2022
Masks and social distancing
  • Mask-wearing is no longer required on the UTS or MQ campuses, including 2SER.
  • However 2SER strongly encourages you to wear masks on-site, particularly if you cannot maintain a safe distance of 1.5m from others.
  • Please consider the safety of your colleagues at the station:
    • Always have a mask with you.
    • As a courtesy, we request that you continue to wear a mask as standard practice when entering shared spaces, only removing it after checking with the colleagues around you.
    • We recommend guests wear masks, and if your guest is immune-suppressed, loop staff in.

Studio and room capacity
  • Density limits have been removed.
  • Please be considerate and check with the presenter before entering a studio.
  • Note that 1.5m social distancing is still required wherever possible, with mask use applied where that distancing cannot be implemented.
  • Regular presenters are welcome to request their own microphone sock, to be supplied by 2SER (reply to this email to do so).

Vaccination status
  • As a courtesy to your fellow volunteers, we urge you to maintain an ‘up to date’ vaccination status.
  • While 2SER will no longer require staff, volunteers and guests to be fully-vaccinated or medically-exempt in order to visit the station, we note that the uptake of vaccination by the community has been the key driver in allowing the level of relative safety we’re now experiencing.
  • We all need to take personal and shared responsibility to minimise risk, and 2SER’s pool of volunteers includes people with underlying health conditions, and vulnerable family members. Our preference is for non-vaccinated individuals to only contribute to 2SER remotely, until further notice.
  • If as a volunteer you do wish to arrange an on-site visit from an unvaccinated individual, including somebody who’s medically-exempt, we would be grateful if you could inform the station Managing Director or Program Manager, so that on-site staff/vols can be given the option to take extra safety measures, and we can protect that individual as best as possible. I have also asked 2SER staff to inform me if they become aware of non-vaccinated individuals coming into the station, so that we can manage risk.

COVIDSafe Behaviours

  • Get vaccinated. This protects other 2SER volunteers and staff, as well as yourself. We urge anyone in the 2SER community to maintain ‘up to date’ vaccination status unless medically-exempt.
  • Get tested. We encourage the use of Rapid Antigen Testing as well as PCR Testing to help you make an informed decision about coming to 2SER.
  • Protect yourself and others by:
    • maintaining 1.5m physical distancing wherever possible
    • maintaining good handwashing and cough/sneeze hygiene
    • continuing to use hand sanitiser and wipes after using studios and shared workstations
    • using air filters where available
    • leaving doors open to allow air circulation where possible (particularly after leaving a studio)

If you test positive to COVID-19

  • If you test positive to COVID-19, please advise a 2SER staff member immediately, so we can support you and follow all safety and compliance requirements.

Close contact rules

As per NSW Health guidelines close contacts (defined as a household contact or an individual deemed by NSW Health to be a close contact) will not have to isolate, as long as they have no symptoms and comply with the following guidelines:

  • Notify their employer/educational facility that they are a close contact, and that they are not required to isolate as long as they comply with [the associated requirements]
  • Wear a face mask in indoor settings outside the home;
  • Undertake daily RAT tests before coming into close contact with people outside their household, where practicable;
  • Work from home where practical;
  • Do not visit aged care, hospitals, disability, and correctional facilities unless a special exemption applies;
  • Avoid contact with elderly and immunocompromised persons where possible;
  • Close contacts will need to comply with the above guidelines for 7 days from the time a person in their household tested positive for COVID-19.

STUDIO CLEANING GUIDE

Stop the spread of germs and keep yourself and your fellow volunteers safe.

Before you begin using a studio please follow the below steps:

Wipe down all desk surfaces using wipes or a soft cloth/paper towel and cleaning spray.

Very carefully wipe down the panel (buttons and faders) using wipes or a soft cloth/paper towel and cleaning spray. Never spray Glen20 or any other liquid into the panel – microscopic moisture particles can get into the faders and either pool or coat delicate gear. When using cleaning wipes ensure that the wipe being used isn’t too wet and only apply gentle pressure. Pools of liquid or excess cleaning products can coat delicate gear and cause serious damage to equipment.

Wipe down other frequently used equipment like: phone receivers, computer mouses, keyboards, headphones and CD player buttons using wipes or a soft cloth/paper towel and cleaning spray.

REMEMBER!

Never spray Glen20 or any other liquid into a microphone – the capsule inside will be damaged by the microscopic moisture particles. Do not spray any liquid onto the panel or any electrical equipment. This also applies to the panel as the spray will go into the faders and either pool or coat delicate gear.

When using cleaning wipes ensure that the wipe being used isn’t too wet and only apply gentle pressure. Pools of liquid or excess cleaning products can coat delicate gear and cause serious damage to equipment.

If you have your own microphone pop socks please bring it along with you each time you use the studio. These should be cleaned regularly in warm soapy water, then turned inside out (if possible) and dried in the sun. They must be entirely dry before being returned to the microphone.

If you have your own Headphones please bring them along with you and use them when you are in the studio. Headphones should be cleaned regularly around the earpieces, inside the padding, and around the headpiece.
