CSIRO report reaffirms nuclear as most costly energy option, despite Coalition claims
The CSIRO’s latest GenCost report has once again identified nuclear energy as the most expensive power option for Australia.
GenCost is the national science agency’s annual assessment of electricity costs, and in response to the study, both CSIRO and The Australian Conservation Foundation have criticised the Coalition’s Nuclear proposal to build seven taxpayer-funded nuclear power plants.
The ACF says the report strongly reinforces the case for renewables, calling nuclear energy a costly distraction from effective climate action.
