Cuts to Environmental Research Jobs at CSIRO

As we’ve seen recently the effects of climate change still seem to be catching a lot of us by surprise. With greenhouse gases rising beyond any historic model and more and more extreme weather events hitting us every year, knowledge is power and any country that does not have the benefit of their own research into climate change risks being left behind. In spite of some positive moves on climate science recently, the Turnbull government has been silent on a rash of job cuts at the CSIRO in their climate research division with many scientists having little to no idea what’s to become of their roles. Research Fellow, Sarah Perkins-Kirkpatrick from UNSW, who has spoken to us previously about these cuts, spoke to The Daily today.
