Daddy Rich Records spins us out with the origin story of his shop
Family run, Daddy Rich Records is a place of solace on a rain afternoon in Dulwich Hill. The record shop is owned by vinyl head Carl Florence, who is always there with a warm welcome and a vinyl blaring. I remember one time I was in there he was playing Led Zeppelin ii… I caved… another time I got this Brazilian thrash-core record and next up is a Japanese Hard Rock vinyl!! The shop is filled with records from all genres from Jazz to Breakbeat
I caught up with Carl to chat about the origins of his shop, the infamous coffee machine and of course Record Store Day!! Which is this Saturday the 20th of April! From 8am he’ll be open with the coffee brewing and the records blaring. Then from 11ish the bangas and bangers will be sizzling away with live music to get you in that music lover mania!
Listen back to our interview to hear Carl explain how a vinyl flattener works!!! (and to hear me butcher the date oops!) Record Store Day is this Saturday 20.4.24 so pop in to Daddy Rich Records in Dulwich Hill to snag your free sausage, support local and dig through the vinyl!
