Dealing with cancer when you live in the country
A cancer diagnosis is tough for anyone, but people living in rural or regional Australia face unique challenges when it comes to receiving treatment for their illness.
Rural and regional patients are often forced to travel away from their homes and families in order to access treatment, which can result in significant emotional and financial distress at an already difficult time.
We’re joined now by Rebecca Gallegos, marketing officer for UTS, who is participating in Dry July and raising money for the cancer centre in Tamworth, following her father’s experience of dealing with cancer while living in regional NSW.
