The recent conservative furore over Australian children entertainers The Wiggles adding some diverse new members to their cast might make one recall the adage, there are two races, ‘White’ and ‘Political’.

But why is racial identity politicised? One way of looking at it is through the lens of colonisation, and students of Macquarie University’s ‘Decolonizing Identity’ course are doing just that in an online conference tomorrow, August 28th. Students will be presenting on topics such as the veil, feminism, African hair politics, and refugees.
