Decriminalising Sex Work

You could describe the last decade as a period of strong advocacy for sex workers, but since New South Wales introduced decriminalisation in 1995, no further tangible rights have been achieved for sex workers across Australia.

The laws regulating the sex industry differ between each state and territory, leaving sex workers to navigate an extremely complicated mixture of laws. Decriminalisation is the legal framework that sex workers and community-based organisations recommend as the best practice model of sex work legislation.

Joining us today to discuss the necessity of full decriminalisation of sex work is Jules Kim, CEO of The Scarlet Alliance, Australia’s peak sex worker organisation.
