Deep sea mining won’t help us reach renewable energy goals
Think of all the electronic devices you own – your phone, your laptop, your television – all these devices are made out of minerals.
These minerals are things like cobalt, rare earth and lithium and due to diminishing on land supplies could soon be mined from our ocean floors.
But what damage would this cause? And how would the mining of these minerals, if at all, help us on the road to 100% renewable energy?
