Defamation has been in the news a lot recently – from Rebel Wilson to Geoffrey Rush – and more locally, NSW is actually known as the “defamation state” due to its high level of cases.
However, there is a need for Defamation Law to be reformed. If you have a social media account, you probably know how turbulent and damaging social media can be for some. In NSW, the Defamation Act was established before the social media explosion and thus a digital makeover is long overdue.
