Designed to save lives – Australian Warning System
The Australian Warning System (AWS) is the nation’s new approach to disaster warning and management. This is an update on the previous Fires Near Me app and features a 3 tiered approach with each stage providing messaging for what to do during an emergency event. The national approach is being rolled out gradually with many states such as NSW already utilising the flood and storm alerts. Ben, one of our producers caught up with the Director of Communications and Engagement at the NSW Rural Fire Service, Anthony Clark, who was responsible for designing this new system.
