Dictionary of Sydney: Eva Buhrich

On today’s dictionary of Sydney, Nicole Cama looks at one member of Sydney’s Modernist architectural movement: Eva Buhrich, born in Nuremburg, Germany 1914.

Studying architecture during her education, the political climate in Germany eventually lead her to NSW. She is a case study that allows insight for equality and architecture. She studied as an architect but would not get the same rate of pay as her male counterparts.

Modern architecture in Sydney is a major talking point currently with our buildings and layout of our city. The Museum of Sydney currently is holding a exhibition about European designers in Sydney until late November.
