Diplomatic Tensions Rise High Amid AUKUS Pact
Professor John Blaxland of the Australian National University joined Tina Quinn on The Daily to talk about Australia’s acquisition of Nuclear submarines. The acquisition comes after the formation of a security agreement between Australia, the USA and the United Kingdom which has been condemned by China.
The defence pact, known as AUKUS (Australia, United Kingdom, United States), has also caused a diplomatic strain between Australia and France, with Prime Minister Scott Morrison scrapping a previously agreed $90 billion nuclear submarine contract with the Western European nation.
