Do Australians Have a Right to Encryption?
Encryption is back in the spotlight. If you’ve been following the news, you might have heard about the joint operation between the FBI and Australia that saw international criminal organisations infiltrated with the encrypted AN0M app. This operation followed a claim recently made by the ACIC that there are no legitimate reasons for law-abiding citizens to own or use an encrypted communication platform.
2SER Monday Daily was joined by Dr Vanessa Teague, CEO of Thinking Cybersecurity and Associate Professor (Adj.) at the Research School of Computer Science at the Australian National University to discuss the importance of encryption for ordinary Australians.
