Donate for Life Week

Organ donation is not something that Australians discuss in their day to day lives. However, raising awareness around organ donation could help many people in dire situations.

In Australia around 1,400 people are currently on a waitlist for a transplant. A further 11,000 people are on dialysis of whom many would benefit from a kidney transplant. Donate for Week Life, aims to raise awareness about organ donation. Currently, only one in three Australians have joined the Australian Organ Donor Register.

Today, breakfast spoke with  Lucinda Barry, CEO of the Organ and Tissue Authority, talking to how to register to become a donor and the myths around organ donation.
