Today, it is estimated that a third of the total food produced for human consumption is going to waste, and a third of the food sitting on the shelves of supermarkets and other food retailers will end up in their dumpsters.

Some people have been very proactive in reinventing a way to approach food and waste, and they propose another form of food economy, based on minimising waste and sharing resources … We are talking about the dumpster diving community.  Yes, we are talking about people who collect food and groceries from bins outside supermarkets and other food retailers.  Beth interviewed an well seasoned dumpster diver from Perth, Brenden Rikihana
