dust hasn’t settled

The last time incendiary Newey post-punkers dust were on 2SER, debut EP et cetera etc was hot off the press, and drummer Kye Cherry was on the phone to talk up their Oxford Art Factory gig, as part of the supporting launch tour. Since then, they’ve made a ton of best-of-2023 curations, and played some huge stages — from Yours & Owls, to Off the Rails, to SXSW at the Powerhouse. They’ve also opened for shoegaze gods Slowdive at the Enmore, Protomartyr in Antwerp, Trophy Eyes at the Metro, as well as Bloc Party & Interpol at the Hordern, the latter of whom they’ll be supporting again across the UK in November.

From the visceral fury of The Gutter to the poetic meanderings of Joy (Guilt), dust are what you get when you churn a cauldron with echoes of Protomartyr, and the electronic idiosyncrasies of Aphex Twin, with a healthy seasoning of Sleaford Mods for good measure.

dust are playing a gig at Bootleggers in Newtown on Saturday, 27th of April. Gabriel Stove (co-lead vocals) and Liam Smith (bass) had a yarn with Jono on Tuesday Drive to chat about it, as well as their new remix EP and upcoming single “Trust U See”.
