Tradition meets cyberpunk drag – Dyan Tai’s ‘Ni-Hao’

Dyan Tai’s new single Ni-Hao is out now, ahead of their Dragon Balls XL: Queer Lunar New Year tour across Sydney and Melbourne. Ni-Hao is a bilingual tongue-in-cheek satire of casual racism in Australia, and is a fan favourite at live shows. The track was released on the 7th of February, and is available on all streaming services. Upcoming shows in the Dragon Balls XL tour include Gaytimes Festival (Victoria), Sydney Mardi Gras Official Afterparty and Biennale Sydney 2024

Hailing from Malaysia and trilingual, the self-described “Gaysian Empress of Sydney” is known for androgynous vocals and a pastiche of Asiatic drag and cabaret style performances.
